Katy

Hi, my name is Katy. I have been working with kids for nearly 30 years, firstly as an educator and then as a counsellor. I am a registered psychologist, providing child therapy, who has trained in developmental assessment and working with the effects of trauma. I have trained in Narrative Therapy through the Dulwich Centre and in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy through the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute and am well-versed in current research on child development.
I am the ATAPS-accredited child therapist used by the Deli Women and Children’s Centre in Eastlakes to work with children aged 0-12 affected by domestic violence. I am available to work with families, consult with schools and with other services on issues affecting child wellbeing.

In working with children and their families, I look for what is held precious and how this is honoured in the actions people take to support children. I recognise that each child and family situation is different and that there are a lot of pressures on families in our contemporary culture that can bring stress to family situations and children’s lives.

Katy uses art, play and storytelling in her work with children and she looks for ways to identify and hold clear the safe and supportive connections, the skills and knowledges, hopes and dreams that bring the best to the lives of children and their families.
